Why does China care about what the rest of the world thinks about it?

Just about anyone in a society with freedom of the press knows about China's human rights record. The only people that still seem to be in the dark are the Chinese people themselves, and they don't really seem too keen on finding out the truth. In fact, if you ask the average university student in Beijing what happened in Tienanmen Square in 1989 they won't have a clue what you're talking about.

I've heard some political pundits say the Chinese government wants to show the world how far the country has come in the past 50 years, and is afraid of scaring away potential investors. I'll believe that when all the international corporations that manufacture and sell goods there back out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-210575587086373532.post-85391105626213202122008-04-23T03:30:00.001+07:002008-04-23T03:30:00.001+07:00Plus, I meant to say that I've heard the LIVING CO...Plus, I meant to say that I've heard the LIVING CONDITIONS SUCK.

KathAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-210575587086373532.post-88081677081414739142008-04-23T03:30:00.000+07:002008-04-23T03:30:00.000+07:00GF was over in Shanghai and Nanjing last year.
