So...I'm Outta Here and Michael Yon's Got This Book Comin' Out

I've been following Michael Yon for awhile now and he's got a book coming out in April called "The Moment of Truth". Despite the fact that there's not a shred of cynicism or anecdotal humor in his body, I have to respect his thought-provoking style of journalism. He definitely has my respect as a combat journalist. I admire his gumption, since covering something like the 2008 election probably has better food, beds, and a much higher probability of meeting hot babes like Mary Katharine Ham. Guys like Michael Ware are okay, but cater too much to sound bites and trying to stir up the pot (like making trouble with Iran on CNN). I guess that's what you have to do to maintain viewership in the world of corporate media, but Michael Yon is different. He delves into all the complexities of the conflict in Iraq from a boots-on-ground narrative. I'll probably pick up a copy of the book, and who knows, maybe he'll swing by the IZ and I can ask him to sign it.

Oh yeah, I'm heading back to Iraq shortly. R&R has been fun, but it's time to go get the second leg of this deployment done. Thanks to all the friends and family that stopped to talk and put up with me along the way.

Not only can the man write, but he is a hunk, too. I did a painting of him which I traded for his book "Danger Close". You might want to think about showing your face - who knows, maybe I will do you a painting too.

By the way, I'm in Scotland for a few weeks. I hope you enjoyed your R&R.

Wish you a speedy and safe return, LT.

Thanks everybody. Currently I'm stuck in a hotel in Atlanta since there were no flights to the ME. Your tax dollars at work.

Hiya, this is K-Ro and A-Ro's little sister... I just wanted to throw out there that I am enjoying your blog and am learning a ton about the war and other recourses of where I can find information... I have not really known what has been going on to any great length because I don't watch FOX 2 News from Detroit... Well, I am sure you know why... I get a lot of flack for having all my PEACE signs all over the place, I am regularly considered unpatriotic. I have also been accused of not supporting the troops... I guess it's hard to explain to some ignorant people that I would prefer peace but, as you have already said, "we are where we are." I don't support the war in terms of the Bush Administration, but I do support you and what you are doing in Iraq because you have been given a job to do and you are doing it. Thanks. I am always hoping for a safe return of all solders, but especially you (and a few friends of mine that are over yonder with you). My best wishes to you.

Oh, if I messed up any spelling or grammar... I am dyslexic... Sorry.

Hi Lt. Rantsalot--Really "enjoy"--well, pay a LOT of attention to--your comments on VetVoice and have a request.

Would you be so kind as to read my new posting on VetVoice and respond if you are so moved? I'd sure appreciate it.

Have a safe trip, and keep your head down until your trip out again. BTW, my son came home (to Norfolk) a few days ago and is getting acquainted with his son (now 7 weeks old). I'm sooooo happy! Best, boadicaea
