From the Apocalypse font at Drudge:
Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the 'urgent need' to combat global warming. There's a certain scientific laziness in attributing every winter storm to proof that global warming is a hoax, but the "Gore Effect" seems to be recurring...and equally hilarious.
But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings.
A 'Winter Storm Watch' has been posted for the nation's capitol and there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations.
"I can't imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside," a Republican lawmaker emailed the DRUDGE REPORT. "And if the ice really piles up, it will not be safe to travel."
A spokesman for Sen. John Kerry, who chairs the committee, was not immediately available to comment on contingency plans.

Also, for those of you that have real snow, we in the D.C. area have a tendency to -- shall we say PANIC at the least snowflake.
So it's not even so much cancelling Al being there, it's the fact that everyone else will NOT be there, bec. they're all at home calling in for a snow day.

I wish I could take a fuckin snow day. It's -5 right now, and I'm just not into it today.
What Kath said. Seems like we in DC traditionally get an ice storm every year about this time. For the naysayers about global warming/climate change, I think the more accurate point of view is that the weather is a whole lot more unstable than it used to be, not necessarily just warmer summers. I remember some 60-degree days in last November... weird weather.
I could show you glacial erratics in the Willamette Valley in Oregon, evidence of glaciation in Puget Sound, Missouri, and inside the city limits of New York City. There are just as many examples of a warmer climate in the past.
Whether or not the climate is changing who's to say it's our fault?
