Why Wasn't Metallica Invited to the Obama Concert?

MSNBC talks about the feel-good vibes of politically-correct, eco-friendly rockstars jamming for Obama at a pre-inaug event:

"Despite the enormity of the task that lies ahead, I stand here today as hopeful as ever that the United States of America will endure — that it will prevail, that the dream of our founders will live on in our time," the president-elect said at the conclusion of a musical extravaganza that featured U2, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen and a host of other stars.
Zzzz. I bet there was nary a beach ball nor a vixen flashing her tits at this event, despite the fact that Pro-Obama lefties are hailing this as a "New Woodstock". If only Metallica was there to play "Leper Messiah", that would've set a more truthful tone for the coming administration:

It will no doubt prove to be an interesting four years!

I'm reminded of the South Park episode Nearer, my God to Thee where Green Day is playing on a sinking barge in a toxic lake.

Woodstock II if I recall correctly ended up in a bunch of crazy college kids in the 90's burning the stage. Can't wait for part III. All about peace and love man!

Fuck you, you traitor son of a bitch.

I did see parts of it -- bec. you couldn't get away from it on TV, it was everywhere -- and it was pretty boring. Guess you had to be there. (No thank you.)

Tell us how you really feel, anonymous.

the whole "we are one" theme was lame, yes, but anything involving bruce springsteen is a-okay with me. an appearance by the boss makes anything cool.

LT Nixon,

You get no Metallica b/c they get no Ludacris, though yours was a good call.

(I'd take anon's comment as a compliment.)

As for an interesting 4 years, I wouldn't look for much meaningful change, if that's what you mean. Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old.

I'd like to see Pearl Jam and maybe the revamped Alice in Chains perform there. Pearl Jam is Green and all plus they rock and AIC just rocks even if they're not quite as good as they were with the Late Layne Staley.

I missed going to that woodstock thing by the hair on my chinny chin chin. I was so pissed, that, that was the beginning of the end of a friendship I had. Besides music, all we had in common was Tae Kwon Doe class anyway. I couldn't believe it, took a whole van of people, tickets and all, and didn ask me. long time ago, now

Just for you guys, I made an Obama tribute video set to Leper Messiah. May be tasteless and cynical towards the historic event, but meh, consider me a bitter clinger.

I think Metallica actually turned down the offer. Seems they heard that BHO had mp3's of their music that he got off Napster.

Love your totally subversive video! The velvet Obama rendering was quite good.
