Democrats Can't Stand Up To Their Own Polarizing Rhetoric on Torture

Feed Me Abu Ghraib Pics, Seymour

After years of congressional Democrats whipping up "Impeach BushCheneyHalliburton" rhetoric amongst the far-left base, they suddenly don't feel so comfortable discussing their involvement with EITs. Nancy Pelosi has tried to save her own tits and ass by saying she was briefed on EITs, but didn't know they were going to be used. Sensing that the argument was extremely shoddy, the Dems have revised their defensive strategy to just go for "The CIA is out to get us!". From Politico:
Dems, including Sens. Dick Durbin, Dianne Feinstein and Carl Levin, charge that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on waterboarding in order to deflect blame away from itself.

Democrats charged Tuesday that the CIA has released documents about congressional briefings on harsh interrogation techniques in order to deflect attention and blame away from itself.

“I think there is so much embarrassment in some quarters [of the CIA] that people are going to try to shift some of the responsibility to others — that’s what I think,” said Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who sat on the Senate Intelligence Committee and was briefed on interrogation techniques five times between 2006 and 2007.
These are the same people who for years under Bush tried to convince the beret-wearing wing of the Democrats that waterboarding three terrorists was equivalent to The Holocaust. Now they back down when their own feet are in the fire. You created this mess, you fucking deal with it.

that waterboarding three terrorists was equivalent to The Holocaust. And they dismiss any consideration of who exactly those terrorists were, what were the historical facts of the acts of terrorism they had accomplished, and what other acts of terrorism they were planning.

Torture is wrong. It does not matter who it was. By opening up the door to permissible torture in some occasions you allow bureaucrats and desk jockeys the ability to craft all sorts of fantasies wherein torture becomes the only option.

No government can grant itself the right to torture. Every potential enemy of war "may" have knowledge of an impending attack. Why not torture everyone? You gotta be sure. Otherwise America is less safe!

As for who knew what, call for the impeachment of Pelosi and Levin and Reid and whatever democrat you wish. Every member of the Bush admin should be arrested and tried.

Gene,

We already have the barbaric practice of capital punishment in our society, and I don't see the base getting all up in arms over that. This "torture debate" is such a clown show, designed to humiliate the Bush administration (even though they are out of office) but has now backfired on Pelosi. Ultimately, it distracts a lot of attention from the Obama administration running the economy down the toilet with unchecked spending.

Of course it's a clown show. But, what clowns are on TV and radio day in and day out minimizing an objectively wrong policy?

The strategy of making Pelosi the "fall guy" is ludicrous.

And the economy was fucked long before Obama decided to make the economy uber-fucked. After all he is Worse Than You Know Who.

As for capital punishment I don't believe States have the moral or legal authority to grant themselves the right to kill their citizens either. Of course, history disagrees with me on that one.
