Gov. Palin Continues Her Foray Into Serious Schnoozer Issues

Zzzzzzzz....

Have you been following the latest controversial outrage about how the Prez is giving a commencement speech at some university?!? Uh, me neither. But, just so you know, it has something to do with fetus-vacuuming and how pro-choice perverts are infesting our Catholic institutions. If you are anxious, Fox News has been covering it with as much frequency as a missing white girl in a tutu.

With loose nukes in Pakistan and a bullshit worldwide economy, it may be prudent to blow off the abortion issue in order of political importance between the color theme on Obama's Blackberry and who will be appointed Assistant Postmaster General. But, Sarah Palin comes out of hiding in Alaska with a zinger at Obama. From Boston Herald:
“My favorite grandpa, Clem James Sheeran, was Catholic. Irish to the core, his favorite place (other than church) was Notre Dame. I can’t imagine what he would think as the university recognizes someone who contradicts the core values of the Catholic faith by promoting an anti-life agenda. As we learned today, our nation is more pro-life than ever before; it is a very important time to strengthen the message that every baby is created for good purpose and has the potential to make this world a better place.”
She's really stressing those "conservative values" that wooed the religious right 30 years ago but have sent young people running for the hills ever since. This is after her knocked-up daughter suddenly became an abstinence advocate and she jumped on the anti-gay marriage bandwagon. Is this narrow-minded mentality of popping up with drive-by commentary on wedge issues capable of propelling the GOP to a win in 2012? The SarahPac website doesn't offer any specifics.

Maybe it's time to resurrect a Goldwater quote on the religious Right:
I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?

Morality comes from a latin word that means "proper behavior." So, by the very definition of the word, you do have to do/believe A, B, C and D to be a moral person. About her daughter, who better to know that unwed-teenage pregnancy sucks balls and you shouldn't do it? Some douche kid who just likes getting a nut off or a girl who is actually trying to raise a kid by herself. And, to top it off, this is a girl who comes from a stable family that has a little bit of money. Imagine if she was a girl who's dad just got laid off and couldn't get the support she needed from her parents. It's funny to me how much the left wants to think about individual rights in cases like this. I don't think BHO should have given the commencement speech at ND. I think he should have given a random speech. Of all the guys in DC, I think he would give the best debate about issues and not just get defensive and angry. Think of it this way, it's alot like Code Pink giving the same speech at a service academy. Conflicting ideologies. Come on LT, do you blow off the daily sample just cause you are on mission? Nope. Those other issues are more important, but they were also covered.

ND came to Obama. If they "shouldn't have" then don't you think they wouldn't have? Religion gets in the way of all kinds of bullshit. This story ranks right up there with what I had for dinner 3 nights ago. Sure, it was a good dinner, but does anyone care? Is it going to change the World? No. I'm really sick and tired of the right picking bullshit topics and continuing the "attack" of dumb shit. If you want to attack the guy, look for some REAL issue. Not superstitious bullshit.

Since it is a private, religious institution, then yes, it does matter. If this was being discussed in reference to ASU, where he also spoke, then you are 100% correct. As far as I know, only one man is allowed to speak for the Catholic faith and that is the pope, not the head of ND. Of course, I'm sure there are plenty of students who are pro-choice. Actually, now I am curious to who else has done this at ND and if anyone noticed or cared about what they stand for.

The Pope may speak for the Catholic faith, but he doesn't speak for ND. I'm sure you're right on, I'm sure there are others that have spoken that were the same as Obama, but since it's Obama they're making it a huge deal.

Well, he is a different kind of public figure. One who's political beliefs define him. They kind of make him who he is. Since the abortion issue crosses religious lines, it makes it a big deal. It is not some persecution of Obama or some right wing conspiracy. That school is very faith based. All students take courses in religion. If he was the first black astronaut, or the first black anything but politician, it would not be an issue. But, because he is a political figure and that political opinion happens to cross into a religious issue, and it is happening at a religious institution, it becomes a big deal. But, it won't last long and in two weeks no one will remember/care.

According to the Notre Dame official web site, only 87% of the Incoming Transfer class are Catholic.

Additionally, ND does not prefer a first year applicants have attended a Catholic HS over a public HS.

How can a Catholic institution allow heretics to attend and learn whilst god fearing believers are turned out into the dark and evil world without a first rate education?

Its a funny idea to want to ban the President of the United States from speaking to the students because he isnt "pro-life". Do they think he is contagious?
